Shari

"Shari" refers to the vinegared rice used in sushi. It's said that the term originates from the resemblance to the fine, white remains of Buddha, known as "Buddha shari". In Sanskrit, these remains are called "Śarīra". Another theory suggests that the name comes from the "shari shari"* sound made when washing rice.
