Sushi counting (cryptic)

“Liang” used in sushi restaurants to denote the number two. This term is derived from the Chinese word for two used in Mahjong. In sushi restaurants, these "secret" numbers are often used: zero is "yama", one is "pin", two is "liang", three is "geta", four is "dari", and five is "menoji".

This system allows staff to discuss prices discreetly, even in restaurants where prices are not displayed. For example, 2,300 yen is referred to as “liang-geta”. Additionally, if you want to order two tamagoyaki, you could say “gyoku, liang de”.
