Tekka-maki

“Tekka-maki” is a type of sushi roll that uses lean tuna as its main ingredient. The term "tekka" originally refers to red-hot iron. The name "tekka maki" was inspired by the red colour of the tuna and the spiciness of the wasabi, likening it to the image of red-hot iron.

*“Tekka-maki” is written as "鉄火巻き" in Japanese.
"鉄" (tetsu) means “iron”, "火" (ka) means “fire”, and "巻き " (maki) means “roll”.
